Rights of Wetlands declares that all wetlands are entities entitled to inherent and enduring rights, which derive from their existence as members of the Earth community and should possess legal standing in courts of law. However, understanding and recognising Rights of Wetlands is a critically important transformative change towards aligning human activities with ecological reality.
In order to further communicate and disseminate the Rights of Wetlands approach, Gillian Davies from BSC Group, and Scouter Design, have developed a Rights of Wetlands Quick Guide. This two-page, accessible infographic aims to explain what Rights of Wetlands are, what they mean, why they are necessary, and provide preliminary information on how to implement or operationalise the rights.
“These visually appealing Rights of Wetlands Quick Guides make it easy for global audiences, whether high level policymakers with limited time or members of the general public, to quickly gain an understanding of, and appreciation for, Rights of Wetlands. We recently shared them at the Society of Wetland Scientists Annual Meeting in Taipei, Taiwan and they were received really well!”
The Quick Guides are available in English, Portuguese, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, French, Canadian French, Sinhala, Spanish, Swahili and Tamil: https://cobracollective.org/projects/rights-of-wetlands-operationalisation-for-biodiversity-and-community-resilience.php
They were created in consultation with Rights of Wetlands Initiative members and Rights of Wetlands project partners. Please download and share!
