This directory was made with crafters engaged in the project Conserving Nature through Traditional Craft and Culture in Guyana funded by the National Geographic Society. These women and men bring their traditional craft to life using age-old techniques that have shaped their cultural heritage. Many of these craft items bridge utility and aesthetics, and form and function, to ensure everyday activities can be carried out. The crafters presented here are just a few that contribute to a sustainable legacy ensuring that time-honoured traditions of craft practices are continued, utilising local materials and traditional knowledge and skills.
